ASEAN two largest economies, Thailand and Indonesia, have formed a joint chamber of commerce, in preparing the two for ASEAN AEC. Bernama reports, Indonesian and Thai businessmen have set up a joint chamber of commerce aimed at strengthening business relations between the two countries ahead of the formation of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) end of 2015, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported. President of Indonesian-Thai Chamber of Commerce, I Wayan Subagia, said Thursday that the joint chamber of commerce would help widen opportunities for industrial operators of the two countries in investing in each other country and simultaneously create “new businessmen.” He said that the Indonesian-Thai Chamber of Commerce will commence operations in November. The chamber’s adviser Prachuab Chaiyasarn said that Indonesia, which has a total population of more than 250 million, was Thailand’s significant business synergy. He added that Indonesia also had abundant natural resources and that Thailand could import palm oil for consumption and production of bio-diesel. “Indonesia is also a major Thai rice importer while more than two million of its people visit Thailand annually,” said Prachuab, adding that business cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened following the implementation of the AEC.
